Mrs. Northam is excited to join the Forte Junior High Band family as assistant director. Prior to joining Azle ISD, she has enjoyed over 20 years of teaching experience in Arlington ISD, Bethesda Christian School, and most recently Northwest ISD. In Northwest ISD, Mrs. Northam helped open and build the Leo Adams MS Band program from the school’s opening in 2018. Her bands have consistently earned Sweepstakes Awards and have been named Best in Class at numerous festivals. Under her direction, the 2023 Adams MS Wind Ensemble was named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Project and placed 6th in Area C of the Texas State Honor Band Competition.

 

Mrs. Northam earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. Her primary instrument is euphonium.

 

Outside of school, Mrs. Northam enjoys hiking and traveling, especially to visit her adult children. She has three children: a professional horn player in the Boston area, a soon-to-be architect who also plays oboe, and a college student who also plays horn. Her husband, Darin, is a trumpet player and teacher in the DFW area.
